2 Chronicles 26:16a “But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God…”
Have you ever played the game of croquet? My wife’s family loves the game and they are very good at it. I, on the other hand, have not played it much and so I am not the greatest at it. In fact in the sixteen years that I have been married to my wife, I have only won one croquet game when playing against her family. Sad, so very sad! I have learned one very important life lesson while playing, or at least attempting to play croquet, and that is one bad shot can ruin your entire game. There have been a number of times where I was ahead of everyone else and doing real good; but then one bad shot changed everything, and I would lose yet again. Life is a lot like a croquet game. There is a start and a finish. There are winners and losers. There are obstacles to go through and there are other people to contend with. Just like the game of croquet, one bad “shot” or decision in life can completely alter the path and therefore the outcome of your life. The life of King Uzziah was a good example of this. He was a great king. The prophet Isaiah thought very highly of him. He was used of God to do much good in Judah, and he accomplished much in his life until he made one really bad decision. His once stellar life was completely altered by one foolish and bad decision. Dear Christian friend, I’m not sure what you may be contemplating right now, but you need to realize that no matter how good your life has been up to this point, one bad choice or one foolish decision to do something you know is against God can completely change the course and direction of your life.
