Deuteronomy 30:20 ”That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
If you were to duct tape two people together and have them go through their day without a painful separation, three things have to happen: First, someone has to lead. If the two people are heading in different directions, it’s going to be very painful and very unproductive. Someone has to be the leader and set the direction, and the other has to follow. The Bible says we should cleave to God. That means we need to stick so close to Him that it’s like we are super glued to Jesus! If you are smart, you will let Him lead. He knows the way to the finish line in life, and He will never lead you wrong.
Second, you have to stay close. If one person is moving and the other isn’t moving, it’s going to be ouch time. The farther apart the two people get, the more painful each move will become. The two people have to stay real close and work together as one team and not two people. As you walk with God, stay close to Him. If you start to lag behind, you will notice that it gets harder and harder to keep the joy of the Lord and to serve Him.
Third, No Pushing! If the two people start pushing and shoving each other, the race is over. Don’t try and “push” the Lord’s will for your life. He knows what you need and what is best for your future. Don’t get ahead of God’s will, wait on Him to lead you; He will never let you down!
