Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
We have heard a lot about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) this year. Masks, gloves, and face shields are all intended to help protect us from the assault of infection. There is another, more important PPE; this one has been around a lot longer and is endowed with great power from God, and it’s called The Armor of God. We must suit up with this serious and spiritual PPE because of our very serious enemy, the Devil (vs. 11), because we are in a battle (vs. 12), and with this armor of God, we will be able to stand in the battle (vs 13).
God tells us that there are seven specific items of Spiritual PPE:
I. Girded with TRUTH:
Believing and speaking truth in a day of deceit
II. The Breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS:
Choosing to live right in the day of wickedness
III. Shod with the GOSPEL:
This is being laced up and ready to take the Love and Hope of Salvation in Jesus everywhere and to everyone in a day of Gospel timidity and confusion
IV. The Shield of FAITH:
Believing and trusting in God in a day of unrelenting fiery attacks against good and godliness
V. The Helmet of SALVATION:
An ever-present knowledge and confidence of being Saved, Sealed, and having a Secure Standing in Christ
VI. Armed with the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT:
The Word of God, the Definitive and Authoritative truth in a day of subjectivity and relativism
VII. Advancing with PRAYER:
Calling in the mighty power of God to work in our lives.
Christian, it is time to SUIT UP with our Spiritual PPE and get into the battle for God!
