Hebrews 2:1 “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
The Bible tells us that if we don’t pay attention, some things or some people can slip away from the truth. God is the Author of the Truth and is the
truth Himself. It is getting mighty slippery today for the truth. Slippery means that the conditions are such that you cannot keep a firm hold on something, or that when you are standing, you aren’t sure if you won’t fall. Here are some things that we should never let slip away:
I. The Preeminence of God:
God is and should be the first and greatest person and power in our lives. Anything or anyone that takes God’s place is out of place.
II. The Power of the Bible:
Much has been done by the devil to undermine our confidence and faith in the Bible. The Bible is no ordinary book; it is the Book of Books because it is God’s book. Read it, Study it, Memorize it, and Live it!
III. The Person of Jesus:
In society today, you can be and believe in anything you want except the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and the only Way, Truth, and Life. The Bible clearly teaches that there is no other way to Heaven but through Him.
IV. The Sanctity of Life:
God is the giver of life, and He alone has the right to set the bounds on human life. All life is a gift from God and should be cherished and protected.
V. The Absolute of Morality:
God has set down absolute and unchanging moral laws for us to abide by. There are things that God is for, and there are things God is against. God is not shy about what He deems Right, Holy and Acceptable. Yet today, morality has been reduced to mere personal preference in the minds of many. Christian, it’s getting slippery out there. Stand strong and stand firm in the truth of the Bible and the absolute facts of God found in the pages of your Bible.
