Esther 5:13 “Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
Do not allow one problem to ruin many blessings. Haman had it all: wealth, power, a huge family, and direct access to the king of Persia, the greatest and most vast empire the world had seen up to that time. He commanded respect and reverence everywhere he walked. People literally bowed down to him as he entered every room or walked down the street. But Haman had a hang up: one man named Mordecai.
Mordecai did not bow down or show Haman the respect he thought he deserved. Haman, in his pride and rage, sought to kill and destroy not just Mordecai but all his people. He was not satisfied with dealing with just the one man, the one issue that was bothering him; he wanted total annihilation in revenge. Well, you may know the rest of the story; his hang up led to his total destruction, not Mordecai’s or the Jews. The moral of this story and personal application is that sometimes we are all like Haman. We have so many great and wonderful things from the good hand of
God, but we choose to focus rather on the one issue, the one problem, the one person that bothers us, and we let that one thing totally ruin our joy and happiness. Don’t be Haman! Focus on God and the good, and don’t get hung up on one person or problem.
Don’t be a Haman and let one problem steal all the joy of life
