1 Samuel 17:35 “And I went after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth…”
David had a responsibility, which was to take care of the sheep. He took that responsibility so seriously that he made sure every single sheep was protected and cared for. He was even willing to give his life to protect the sheep. An interesting phrase in verse 35, “And I went out after him and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth.” I love how David was willing to chase the lion, take back his lamb, and then kill that lion.
He knew he had to do everything he could to protect the sheep. Teenagers, your youth pastor is trying to do everything he can to protect you from our enemy, the devil. He knows what is outside the boundaries waiting to destroy you. The devil wants not only to hurt you, but to destroy your life for good. The devil wants to destroy your dreams, destroy your future marriage, and destroy your potential, but your youth pastor is going to do all he can to protect you from the devil.
Please don’t get mad at the Youth Pastor for setting up the boundaries in your life! He is not the enemy. He just wants to do all he can to protect you from the enemy. There are so many stories of teenagers whose lives have been destroyed by drugs, alcohol, getting pregnant out of wedlock, and pornography. They are now in jails and prisons because they thought the Youth Pastor was the enemy for setting up all the boundaries in their lives. They decided to step out of those boundaries. He is just trying to protect you from ruining your life! Just like David went after that lion and delivered the lamb out of his mouth, I believe your youth pastor is also willing to chase after you and pull you out of the devil’s hold in order to keep you from being destroyed by the devil! Why? Because your youth pastor and his wife love you!!!
