Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
It is my desire that you, as a teenager, be successful in God’s eyes. There are many things that promote Biblical success, so here are 7 things that I believe will be a help to you.
1) Put God first. Matthew 6:33, Colossians 1:18
You decide to be in church when the doors are open. Decide to read your Bible and pray daily. Do not neglect God in your life. Make it a habit to put God first in very decision in your life.
2) Do not smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol. Proverbs 20:1, Romans 12:1, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 2 Timothy 2:20-21
Your body is not your own, but God’s. Everything in your life should bring glory and honor to God. You should strive to keep you body at its best, so that you are able to serve God with the best of your ability. This includes your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states.
3) Stay Pure. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
Your purity is something you will never get back once you give it away. Your body, both mentally and physically, are to be reserved for the one spouse God allows you to marry. Having children before a marital relationship will never push you to success, but is a recipe for failure.
4) Graduate from school (i.e. high school and college if you decide to start). Ecclesiastes 7:8, Luke 14:28-30
Finish what you start. You should never fall into the habit of quitting something when it gets hard. If it is worth starting, it is worth finishing.
5) Do not blame others for the problems in your life. Ephesians 4:32, Hebrews 12:2
Learn to forgive others. People will disappoint you in life. Do not let the things people do rob you of success. The last thing you want to do is blame others for your lack of success. Take responsibility for your life. Make it a habit to keep your eyes on Christ.
6) Learn to handle money efficiently. Malachi 3:10, Proverbs 21:20
Money itself is not wrong, but the love of it is. You should not chase money at any expense, but you ought to learn to manage money wisely. Learn to save for the hard times that will come in your life. If you do not learn to control money, it will control you.
7) Choose your friends wisely. Proverbs 27:17, James 4:4
Show me who you hang around with, and I’ll show you where you’ll end up. Your friends will determine your destination. One will not serve God, and be friends with the world at the same time. It is wise for you to build friendships with people at church. Your true friends should push you to serve God more.
