Ecclesiastes 12:1, 13–14 “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;…Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
The teenage years are some of the most exciting years of life. They are filled with opportunities, friendships, learning, and dreams for the future. But they are also years when many important decisions are made. God’s Word gives timeless wisdom on how to make these years count.
1. Remember Your Creator – “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth…” (Ecclesiastes 12:1)
Don’t wait until you’re older to live for God. The best time to begin serving the Lord is while you’re young. Make Christ the center of your life now. Build the habits of reading your Bible, praying, attending church faithfully, and growing in your relationship with Him. The choices you make today will shape the person you become tomorrow.
2. Fear God – “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
To fear God means to have a deep respect, reverence, and love for Him. When you recognize who God is, you’ll desire to honor Him with your words, your actions, and your decisions. Success isn’t measured only by grades, trophies, or popularity. True success is living a life that pleases God.
3. Be Obedient – “Keep his commandments “
God blesses those who obey Him. Obey your parents, respect your teachers, honor those in authority, and most importantly, obey God’s Word. Obedience protects you from many regrets and leads you in the path of wisdom. A teachable spirit will take you farther than a rebellious attitude ever will.
4. Be Careful About Secrets –“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”(Ecclesiastes 12:14)
The world often says, “If nobody knows, it doesn’t matter.” God says otherwise. Nothing is hidden from His sight. Every secret thought, word, and action is known by Him. Live with integrity, even when no one else is watching. Character is revealed by what you do in private. Choose honesty, purity, and righteousness because your heavenly Father sees all things.
Conclusion
Being a teenager is a wonderful season of life. Enjoy it, learn from it, and use it to glorify God. Remember your Creator while you’re young. Fear God. Obey His Word. Live with integrity, knowing that nothing is hidden from Him. If you build your life on these four biblical principles, you’ll not only be a successful teenager—you’ll be preparing for a lifetime of faithfulness and blessing. “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” — Ecclesiastes 12:1 (KJV)
