Items Needed: – THE GAME COMES COMPLETELY READY TO PRINT AND PLAY FOR ALL YPS, YOUTH WORKERS, SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS, BUS CAPTAINS, AND YOUTH WORKERS! – Just email theyplife@gmail.com and tell us your name, church\school, title, and years of service!
Vehicles, List of things to find for the scavenger hunt (Provided), List of secret Missions (Provided), TV, Google Photos album, Pizza
How to Play:
Divide into two or more teams. Give the instructions to the teams, and go over the laws they must abide by. Give them a specific time to be back at the church, and take off points for every minute that the group is late! These teams will work together to find\do as many of missions in the list for the scavenger hunt. Teams will take a 5-10 second video showing they accomplished each scavenger mission unless the mission instructions specifically say take a picture. The team must always be together. The whole team must be in the video unless otherwise specified in the mission instructions (ie. 2000 point mission – Have at least four people playing leapfrog. Doesn’t have to be whole team just four people). The team with the most points at the end of the time is the winner.
One element of fun for this activity is that the teen workers are not leading the way. The workers must only drive and take all the videos! – The teens get to direct them where to go and what to look for next. (occasionally they may give suggestions if the team is doing really bad but other that that have fun and let them try to lead around your town.) The workers must upload the videos as they take them to the Google photos album that you created. This is the easiest way to share and upload videos. Another way to upload is Cluster. It does well with pictures, but it does not do well with videos. Once they take the picture or video they simply add it to the album. They must do it as they go that way when you get back to the church everything will be uploaded and ready to go. If you wait until you get back from the hunt, then the videos wont be ready and it could ruin the ending which is fun.
After the scavenger hunt have pizza and watch the videos that the teams sent in! This part is almost as fun as the actual scavenger hunt!
Secret Tasks:
NOW THE REAL FUN AND WHAT MAKES THIS EVENT UNIQUE
Each Player is given a piece of paper sealed shut with a stamp (Provided in downloadable file or you can buy a real wax stamp which is epic!) THEY MUST NOT SHOW IT TO ANYONE OR READ IT OUT LOUD OR TELL ANYONE – NOT EVEN THEIR TEAMMATES! Each secret task is worth points also. So instead of just getting points for accomplishing the scavenger hunt missions, a teenager can get a lot of points for their team by accomplishing the secret tasks as well. Secret tasks must be accomplished during the videos being taken for the MAIN Scavenger Missions – (ie one of the secret task is – make the same goofy face in at least five of the teams videos or pictures worth 300 points for your team) Each task is different and worth different points. Some are easy and worth less points, and some are hard but worth a lot of points. There are two tasks per team that are worth the most, and their goal is to catch their teammates trying to accomplish a secret task. IF a player is caught by one of the SPIES then that task is forfeited and they can draw a new one. No points are awarded for unsuccessful for failed tasks!
If a player completes a secret task or gets caught, they must turn in the paper to one of the teen workers who will give them another task.
Fun Twist:
Give out individual prizes as well as the whole team prizes. For whoever gets the most point by completing the secret tasks.
