Acts 9:10 “And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.”
Are you an Ananias Christian? There are three different men in the New Testament, all in the Book of Acts, that are named Ananias. It is important to know that these were different men and of the three only one was a good and godly man. That man was Ananias of Damascus. We find him only in Acts 9:10-22. He was the Christian that God sent to meet, baptize, and help the newly saved Saul of Tarsus. We see demonstrated in the life of Ananias several very key traits that we should Identify, Appreciate, and Emulate.
- He was a Devoted Disciple (9:10) “a certain disciple..”
- He was Attuned to the Lord (9:10) “to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias..”
- He was Responsive to the Lord’s Call (9:10) “Behold, I am here, Lord.”
- He was Submissive and Obedient (9:11-17) “And Ananias went his way..”
- He Trusted in the Lord to Preserve Him (9:17) “and entered into the house..”
- He was Friendly and Helpful (9:17) “..said, Brother Saul..”
- He was Willing to Associate with new Christians (9:19) “Then was Saul certain days
with the disciples…”
While this man gets very little credit or acknowledgement he was used of God in a great way to launch the Christian life of Paul, a man we all know and respect. Thought to Glow On: Decide to be an Ananias Christian, someone God can use!
