Genesis 39:7“And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.”
Today I would like to rip the lid of one of Satan’s greatest weapons against us: Temptations. Temptations are powerful, we all have trouble with them. There are some patterns to temptations and when we see them and know them, we can be better prepared to turn temptations into triumphs like Joseph did:
1. The Persistence of Temptations – This means they come, and they come back, and they keep coming back. Joseph had to fight off this temptation more than once.
2. Temptations are Personal – The devil will fine tune his sinful offers that appeal to you. Beware!
3. The Person of Temptation – Temptations often come to us through the influence or association of a person. Do what Joseph did – get away from them!
4. The Place of Temptation – Joseph kept battling this temptation when he was in a certain place and when he was alone with this person. Be aware that temptations often come in a particular place and at a particular time, often when we are alone or with a bad influence. Being alone with an internet connected device is one of the most spiritually and morally dangerous places you can be!
5. The Passing of Temptation – This is the BEST truth yet: temptations are not forever. They come and they go, especially when you get away from the person or the place of temptation. God gives us a promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that in every temptation God will provide a way to escape, a way to say no, a way to turn temptations in to triumphs when we say No to temptation and Yes to doing what is right.
With God’s Help You CAN Turn Temptations into Triumphs
