Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Season Pass: Grants the holder access to all events for regular season events.
Summer: A time when we think of SUMMER BREAK.!!! We get a chance to change our routine from school days. That time of year when we let our minds go to thinking about family vacations, camping, roasting marshmallows, and so much more.
It’s a time when many will invest money in a Summer Season Pass for zoos, museums, amusement parks, their favorite baseball team home games, and more! Especially after they have been cooped up in their houses from this virus.
A Season Pass allows one the ability to instantly make changes to their schedule because the ticket has already been purchased in advanced. It gives one the freedom to make last minute schedule changes, that freedom to hop in the car and go to a ball game all because the ticket has been pre-purchased as a Season Pass. As I was thinking of summer and all of the fun things that there are to do, the freedom that seems to be in the air to “do what you want” I asked the question – does God have a Season Pass to my life?
1. Does God have a “Season Pass” in my Friendships?
So many young people and adults go astray in the summer. With the extra time the summer gives us, it is so easy to let down our guard in our friendships. If we are not careful we will allow friendships to influence us to do things that will get us away from our commitments to Christ.
Summer time makes available different kinds of activities, different kinds of fun and entertainment; and if we are not careful, we can allow our friendships to influence us to use this time more for self than for God’s glory. I love fellowship, and God wants us to have friendships, but decide this summer to give God the
Season Pass in your life to decide your friendships and use those friendships to do things together that will honor Christ this summer. Give God the season pass to your life in this area and your summer will be filled with fun times and memories of fulfillment!
2. Does God have a “Season Pass” in my Choices?
Summer time is filled with choices. There are ballgames to go to, ice cream parlors to visit, hikes to take, vacations to plan, all of these wonderful choices for the summer!!! The work of God still goes on in the summer and there are choices there too. There are still souls to be saved, bus kids that need to be taken to church, VBS that will need helpers, summer Sunday promotions that will need us to be a part of helping. Am I willing to give God full control of my choices this summer? In everything there is balance. Having fun and doing things to relax is a part of life that is necessary, but don’t take a summer break from the work of God altogether!! Give God a “Season Pass” to your choices this summer. Ask God to help you keep all things in balance. God doesn’t take a summer vacation from providing, caring and loving us. He deserves the same in our lives! Give God the Season Pass to your life in this area and your summer will be filled with NO regrets!
3. Does God have a “Season Pass” to my Heart?
Summertime can be so full of activity. The days are longer, the weather provides opportunity to get out earlier and stay out later. There are so many things to take up our time. We hurry to do all of those things that we have planned to do and try to cram them into the short three month period of our summer break. We have so many things planned that many times we find ourselves so booked with fun things to do, that we plan our lives right out of time
spent with God. Summertime is a GREAT time to make more time to be with the Lord! I love the early summer mornings when the air is cool and the sun comes up earlier, to go outside and have devotions sitting and listening to the birds chirping, see the flowers blooming, all reminders of the God we serve. Our walk with God in the summer will either grow as we use the extra time to nurture it, or it will scorch from neglect. God deserves for us to never let our relationship with Him change with the seasons. He deserves our praise and adoration; He deserves time in His Word; He deserves our hearts to be ever working toward Him and our feet ready to serve! Decide to have summer revival in your heart, decide to stay committed to your personal walk with Christ, and give God your heart for all seasons. Decide that no matter what the season, God will always have a Season Pass in this area of your life. Give God the Season Pass to this area of your life and you will forever be enjoying the blessings of the Lord! God is a God of all seasons. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Heb. 13:8). What He wants in our lives doesn’t change with the seasons. God purchased the “Season Pass” to our soul when He paid for our sins on the cross.
Does God have a “Season Pass” to my/your life? Does He have the freedom that grants the Holder access to all events for regular season events in your life?
