Your Donkeys

Numbers 22:26 “And the angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.”

Some men from Moab come to Balaam and want him to curse Israel. They
offer him much reward to turn his back upon the Lord. Balaam prays about it, but God says NO! They ask him again and again. Balaam begins to doubt the decision he made for God. God already had told him God’s will, but Balaam decides to choose his own will. In this story, I want to compare us to Balaam and the people, who keep us away from danger and destroying our life, to the donkey. The people who have taken care of you from birth till now. The donkey sees the the Angel of the Lord and begins to pull away, but Balaam begins to beat the donkey. Some of you are like Balaam and are beating your donkeys. Beating them with your attitude, silence, negativity and comparison. You rebel against leadership and correction when they are trying to keep you from harm.

1. There would be no conflict with your donkey if you would obey the Word of the Lord.

We hear millions of sermons to help us do right. Our problems are generally not with our donkeys. We just take them out on our donkeys because they are the authority.

2. Look how far your donkeys have carried you.

Your donkeys may have made a few mistakes, but they have carried you this far. When they are leading you spiritually, you should follow!

3. Temporary hurt is better than permanent death.

Balaam’s donkey crushed his foot, but it saved his life. When you ask a question and get an answer you don’t like, but it’s true. That may hurt, but it’s better than you ruining your life.

4. Donkey’s are willing to beaten so we can see the Lord.

They’re patient through your rebellious, disrespectful attitude so that you may see the Lord, and choose to serve Him. There are parents and Pastors praying for you. Praying that you will see the Lord and get closer to him.

5. One day, the donkeys will be gone.

Then it will be just you and the Holy Spirit. If you lived your life beating your donkey’s, you will beat the Holy Spirit too.
Decide to stop beating your donkeys, and start building back that relationship with your parents, Pastors. and Youth Pastors. Stop beating them and start trusting them.
