“ But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, Because they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his Disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Matt 9:36-38 KJV
Christ looks at people a lot differently than you and I look at people. We look on the outside and automatically we judge because of the length of their hair or the shortness of their skirt or the things that we look at as Baptists and Christians. We say “Certainly that person must be a sinner and ungodly and must need God. ” We live in a nation that has now developed a moral and Spiritual vacuum in the United States of America and there are very few strong Godly men of character to lead this nation as the way it should go. Jesus looked at mankind as sheep having no shepherd. as a result, He was moved with compassion. He said unto His disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous but the laborers are few.”
I would like to give you several reasons why I believe you and I must win souls. The Bible says “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life: and he that winneth souls is wise. ” How many want to be wise? You want to be known to have wisdom in your life, Yet no matter how wise you are, it does not matter as much to God as being a soul winner.
- Jesus was a soulwinner
Christ came to this world not only to raise the dead and heal the sick, but also everywhere He went, he won souls. LK 19:10 “For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Christ came to redeem the world. He died on Calvary and through His resurrection from the dead we can have justification for all of our sins. Christ came to win souls.
2. The harvest is plenteous
He looked out on the multitudes, and he said to the disciples ” The harvest truly is plenteous but the laborers are few” There is still a great harvest here and world-wide that is waiting to be reached. The Gospel still works. People say that America is gospel hardened they have heard the gospel so much that they are now unreceptive to its message dont believe that at all. I believe people are Gospel-confused Gospel-ignorant. How can they know unless someone should guide them? That is our job- to guide them to Christ.
3. The Laborers are few
We don’t have enough people to give themselves. Many are observers, spectators. Were you out this week trying your best to give the Gospel out? Whatever you’re doing for Christs sake, it’s got a tag attached to it, and that tag says “Not in vain” If you’re doing it for the Lord, its all good. We have an opportunity thats been created within the moral vacuum of our nation- to get a harvest in of lost people being saved and to see men, women, boys, and girls changed by the power of God. That’s why we have neighborhood Bible time and run buses on Sunday. There’s nothing like young people riding a bus, trusting Christ at a young age, and growing as a Christian.
4. The great commission was given ” Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
It matters not what skin color they are, what culture they’re from, or whether they’re rich or poor. He made it very clear that he loves all men, no matter how far they’ve gone. God wants to rescue the perishing and care for the dying. God will and wants us to be missionaries for him.
I’m glad we can still win souls today with God’s help and by grace. We can be missionaries here and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
