Why Gold Makes It Through The Fire

1 Timothy 1:12 “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;”
Gold in the Bible is referred to as a favorable, valuable metal.  The Bible says in Pro 25:11 that “A word fitly spoken is like apples of God in pictures of silver.”  You will find gold referenced all through the Bible and used for precious things like the temple to the priest’s garments.
Just like America used to be on the gold standard, God has always been on the “Gold” standard.  America left the gold standard for currency in 1933 and completely severed the link between the dollar and gold in 1971.  In 1996, an ounce of gold was worth $369 and in 2016 an ounce of gold is worth $1,260.90.  Gold’s what we value down here but it’s what God says He’s going to make the roads out of in Heaven.  Jewelers aren’t in the steel business, but the gold and silver business.  Precious metals.
God refers to us on earth here as “Gold” right now.  Zechariah 13:9 “And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”  Just like gold, we are put through the fires of trials and testing to purify us!
If we want to make it through the trials here on earth, we must be like “Gold.”  Just like Gold is an inanimate object, containing no life, WE must die to self and surrender to God!  Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”  Just like gold is moldable to the master, we must be moldable to God’s Will!
The most important reason “Gold” makes it through the fire is because it is valuable to the Refiner! You are valuable to God!  I am not trying to just boost your self-esteem, but much self-worth can be taken from the wonderful blessing of knowing we are precious to God!
