John 21:21-22 “Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.”
Jesus has just risen from the dead and is going around shewing Himself to His disciples. He is giving them their last instructions before His ascension into Heaven in Acts 1. If you were to read the verses preceding our text, you would find that Jesus has just revealed to Peter the way that Peter will die. By the way, he shows Peter that his life and death will glorify God. While Peter is pondering his fate, he looks at John (also known as the beloved) and asks Jesus, “What about John? What is going to happen to him?” Jesus knew what would happen to John, but instead He chooses to reveal a powerful truth about the will of God: “What is that to thee?” Let me challenge you: Are you committed to the Will of God for your life? If so, then do not worry about what everyone else is doing or not doing! I feel like so often we look at others that are serving God and say, “Well, why didn’t this happen to them?” or “Why do they get to do that?” Don’t be jealous of others when God gives them a large ministry and they are winning many souls to Christ. Don’t be jealous when God calls them to Hawaii and He calls you to Russia. There is no such thing as a big church or a little church. The work that God calls a man to do in Utqiagvik, Alaska is just as important as the one he puts in New York City! Why not decide to be happy doing what GOD wants you to do?!
