1Kings 18:33 “And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.”
Elijah calmly repaired the altar, dug a trench around it, put the wood in order, cut the sacrifice in pieces, put it on the wood, and then unbelievably had them pour four barrels of water on the sacrifice. He had them do it a second and a third time. A total of 12 barrels of water were poured on the sacrifice. A short prayer later, the fire fell! Elijah saw God do the miraculous. Remember that they were in the midst of a horrible drought, so water was scarce and precious. Elijah was willing to offer that which was precious to God. Far too many young people only offer God the leftovers of their lives. There is a drought of young people offering their best to the Lord. Bible reading is an afterthought, prayer is for the food, the last row of seats in the Sunday School class is their normal place to sit, soul-winning is time to be with friends, etc. They are doing all the right things but with no thought and no heart. Pour your heart into what you offer God! Put some thought into your service for Him. Read your Bible like it is a love letter from God. Pray thoughtfully and carefully. Sit up front in Sunday School and take notes in your Bible. Yearn for God to use you in winning souls. Offer God the best! You will see God do something wonderful in and through your life.
