Philippians 4:19 “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
If you ever have the opportunity to read the biography of Hudson Taylor, the first thing you realize is that it is very humbling to think of how little faith we have at times. The second thing that you realize is that the secret to Hudson Taylors power was not some great event where the heavens opened and he saw a seventy foot tall Jesus. It was a lifetime of allowing God to work in his life in times of need. It was falling back on God. A song he was known for singing went like this: “Jesus, I am resting, resting, in the joy of what thou art. I am finding out the greatness of Thy loving heart.”
If we apply the same principle to our faith, imagine what great things we could accomplish for God. Often, we try to take problems and issues of life into our own hands. Hudson Taylor probably suffered more losses than most of us, but the theme of resting in God was still the song in his heart. A lifetime of service is the only thing that can produce that kind of faith. My prayer would be that each and every one of us would be able to one day sing the same song as Hudson Taylor.
