Genesis 32:31 “And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.”
Most everyone reading today’s devotional attended some type of summer Bible camp or revival meeting this past summer. During that week of camp or special meetings, you may have made some decisions about your life. Maybe you decided to get rid of the bad things in your life. Maybe it was bad music, movies, or TV. Maybe it was drugs. Maybe it was a friend or even a boyfriend or girlfriend. But summer is over and you are back to the same old routine. You said you were going to change and get things right for real this time. I hope your decision stuck and your resolve did not waiver and your passion for God did not grow cold after camp or the revival ended. Sadly, I see many, if not most Christians who make such decisions, turn back shortly thereafter.
There is a difference between being stirred and being changed. It is easy to get stirred up during a great spiritual revival. The godly music, the hot preaching, the moving of others making decisions for God. Change is much harder. In our Bible passage today, Jacob meets God and was changed. The Bible says he walked differently after he had met with God. Teens, only God can truly change you from the inside out. Ask Him to change you, and then by faith, live a changed life.
Lastly, I challenge you to step up to a new level of spiritual commitment to experience a changed life for God. If you are living the same life as you were before with the same habits, the same entertainment, and the same friends, then you will reap the same results. Change requires a change. To be different you must live different. It will be work, and it will be hard, but it will be worth it!
