I Corinthians 12:17-18 “If the whole body were any eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now had God set the members everyone of them in the body, as it hath pleased him”.
Summary Thought: Don’t compare the talents and gifts God has given you with what He has given others.
Devotion: Light bulbs are made up of different watts in order to fulfill different uses. For instance, I would not ask for a lamp bulb when my flashlight needs a bulb. Likewise, a bulb made for a flashlight would not work in a lamp. These bulbs are definitely not equal in watts but they are equally needed and useful!
As teenagers it can be easy to find ourselves comparing our strengths and weaknesses to that of others in our youth group. Some personalities and talents bring popularity and attention, while others are more quiet and behind the scenes. But the Bible tells us all are needed! Comparison is exactly what Paul is addressing in this chapter. All parts of the body are not equal in size or notice ability but all are equally needed! The foot cannot see and the eye cannot walk but both complete the body.
God gave you exactly watt he wants you to have. He desires for you to use watt He has given you to its fullest for His honor and glory. My watts may vary in strength in size they may be smaller or larger than others but they are perfect for what God has for me to do. You will never shine to your full potential if you are neglecting watt He has given you because you are comparing yourself to the watts of others.
Are you hiding your light under the darkness of embarrassment? Stop that right now and start shining bright today with watt He has given you!
