Protecting Spiritual Decisions

Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”

We have all seen it happen. We go to camp or Youth Conference and make decisions and God really works in our hearts. We come back to our church and we share our decisions and we even go to school and tell everyone there too. But then after a week or so, maybe two something happens and all of a sudden something that we were so passionate about becomes so stale in our spiritual outlook. What happened? How can we keep this from happening? Daniel, as a young man, was taken to a strange country with false gods, wicked lifestyles, carnal music and a hatred for his God. Knowing where he was going, Daniel made a decision to “purpose in his heart”. This decision helped him to not defile himself with the King’s meat.

Here are a few ways you can Protect your Spiritual Decisions:

1. Never Undo in Doubt What You Did In Faith- if you made a decision at camp or conference in faith under the preaching, then keep it. Don’t over think it and decide it wasn’t a good decision because you don’t want to do it now. You decided by faith so keep it by faith.

2. Keep Your Surroundings Spiritual- Decide not to defile yourself. Don’t let things that will detract and deter from your spiritual growth into your life. This includes people, places and things.

3. Prepare for the Will of God- God has a plan for your life and this decision was one of the steps for His will. Take each step as they come and do God’s will for your life.

4. Purpose in Your Heart- Just Decide. Make a decision to keep your decision.
