Praying Through Depression

Ps. 13:6 “I will sing unto the Lord, because he had dealt bountifully with me.”
King David must have been having a bad time, judging from this prayer recorded in Psalm 13. He thought that God had forgotten him and was hiding His face from him. His heart was filled with sorrow every day, and his enemy was getting the best of him. He was afraid he was going to die.
In his troubles, he cried out to God. He prayed through the fog that clouded his vision. He prayed until His doubts were gone. He remember that God had saved him. He remembered the blessings God had given him. Then he started rejoicing. His prayer brought him from doubt two deliverance and from sadness to singing.
We all have our dark days. When such days come it is easy to forget the blessings of God. That is when we need to cry out to God until the storm clouds lift and the rainbow of promised spans our sky.
