Luke 11:1 “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
Why is it that something so easy can be so hard? Talking isn’t hard. Many of us talk in person, on the phone, social media and email often. Why is it that we can talk with ease to so many people, but we struggle to talk to the Lord. I think it is sometimes because we don’t understand or really comprehend what prayer is. We have been given as simple of a definition as “Prayer is Asking” and more complex definitions such as intercession and supplication. The truth is prayer is just talking to God. Call it what you want, the important thing is that we make sure we spend time talking to God. So what is true prayer?
P- Praise God: Spend time praising God. Tell Him how good he is. Thank Him for what he does and all He is to us.
R- Remember Others: Bring your friends, family, church, and others to God. Intercessory prayer is you going to God for them.
A- Ask: Ask the Lord for forgiveness and help. Ask Him to bless and provide your needs, desires, burdens and those of your family and friends.
Y- Yield: Yield to the will of God. Yield to the Holy Spirit. Give yourself to Him completely for the entire day.
Prayer is not difficult. It is easy. Praise. Remember. Ask. Yield. Prayer is as easy as talking to your friends or family. We just have to find time to do it. Find time today to talk to God. Spend some time talking to God and sharing your heart with Him today.
