My Goals For The Lord

Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Elisha was Elijah’s apprentice. Elijah was teaching Elisha the things of the Lord. Just before the Lord was to take Elijah, he asked Elisha what he could do for him before he was taken away by the Lord. Elisha told Elijah that he wanted twice as much anointing and power from the Lord as what Elijah had. That was Elisha’s goal and he reached this goal because the Lord bestowed upon him double the anointing and power that Elijah had. Wow! What an awesome goal to achieve! Why did Elisha achieve this goal? He achieved this goal because he was a faithful servant to the Lord.
So, what is a goal? According to the dictionary, a goal means the result or achievement toward which effort is directed. Young person, now is the time to set some goals in your life for the Lord! What are some goals you could set for the Lord? You could read your Bible every day, read through your Bible in one year, memorize a verse a week, be faithful to come to church, and pray every day to the Lord. These are just a few goals you could have for the Lord.
Some of your goals may be a short term goal or a long term goal. Make sure when you set a goal, that your goal is attainable. Sometimes you need to make a small goal, and then once it is achieved, you make a larger goal. Once you have a goal, then focus on how you plan to achieve that goal. If you have no plan, then many times you never achieve your goal. For instance, have a set time that you are going to read your Bible every day.
Remember to always stay focused on accomplishing your goal, because Satan will do all he can to deter you from your goal for the Lord. Ask God to help you achieve your goal. You can do it with God’s help!
