It seems that, being more familiar with the affairs of this life (2 Tim 2:4) than we are with the statutes and commandments of this Book (Nehemiah 9:13-14), we have created in us a weak stance on sin, and even a spiritual impotence in influencing this world for Christ. Instead we unconsciously have allowed this present evil world (Galatians 1:4) to influence our view of sin and its alluring enticements (Job 31:27, James 1:14-15). We may have even allowed Satan to beguile us, as he did Eve in the garden(Genesis 3:13), into thinking that this list of sins that our context verse lists as”your members which are upon the earth”are not our very own personal members, but they must be (Proverbs 1:10).
