In Search of a Heart

Nehemiah 2:12 “And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.”

Jerusalem was in ruins. The gates were burned with fire and the wall was rubble. When Nehemiah heard of the condition he sat down and wept and mourned. He also fasted and prayed. God showed Nehemiah what could be done for Jerusalem, and God showed him who should do it. God put something in the heart of Nehemiah to do for the city. God is still looking for hearts into which He can put something to do for His cause. There are many cities in America where the Gospel is not preached regularly in a Bible-believing church. There are many cities in foreign lands that have no witness of Jesus Christ. There are many churches who could benefit from an on-fire youth director or bus director. There are sermons to be preached, songs to be sung, choirs to be led, junior churches to be directed, youth activities to be planned, and tracts to be handed out. All God needs is some willing hearts into which He can put something! No doubt but that Nehemiah’s heart burned to fulfill the desire God placed there. What joy it must have created when the wall was rebuilt in 52 days. What protection was now provided for those who lived, worked, and played within those walls! What good can be done for multiplied thousands of people around the world if God had some more hearts into which He could put something? Is your heart available?
