God’s Plan for Loneliness

Psalms 142:4 “I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.”

Loneliness is an epidemic in our day. In this past year over 47,000 people took their lives and even more considered it and many of them were influenced by the feeling of loneliness. The pain of loneliness is very real. It hurts when you feel like no one cares for you, “Gets You”, or includes you. Without a doubt one of the hardest things to get through is being lonely. God created all of us with the desire to belong; we want to “fit in” somewhere. Some are so desperate to belong that they will join up with anyone that will take them even when they know that what is going on in that circle is not right. But there is good news: God knows you want to belong, and He has provided for you a plan to meet that need you feel of wanting to be wanted, appreciated and included. Here are four groups that everyone should belong to:

To the Father – God wants you to be His. Jesus wants to be your friend! He sent the first friend request over 2,000 years ago (John 15:15)

To Our Family – God created all of us to be in and to belong to a family (Genesis 2:18). The Devil is the one dividing families, not God. Work at and Love the family God has given you, large or small.

To Our Friends – God created us all with the capacity to give and receive love and friendship. Good friends make a BIG difference, and so do bad friends! Proverbs 18:24 teaches us that we have to work at
having friends and being friendly. Pray that God will bring you some good friends.

To a Family of Faith – God created a place for Christians to belong, it’s called the church. Some of my best friends come from church. The church is our extended family of friends in the faith.
