DUH! Are you really that foolish?

Think about the Story of Adam and Eve ….Hiding from God !!!!        DUH!!!!!

Think about Aaron and the Golden Calf….It just jumped out!!!!        DUH!!!!!

Think about Saul and the Sheep of Amalek….They were bleating!!!        BAHH  BAH  DUH!!!

There is a bunch of other stories I could use, that seem so dumb. So ignorant, so foolish. But even today, with all the examples we have, all of the knowledge that is available, we still have some people who seem very foolish. If you are here tonight and you think you are foolish, ignorant, or dumb, you are not. However, if you choose not to apply the wisdom you get, you are choosing to be foolish. I look at so many young people and I just have to say ….DUH!!!
The saggy pants, the nightgown shirts, the yo, yo, yo, vocabulary. The black nail polish, the heavy black makeup, the black clothes and depressed music.  The Christian school kids who want to have the life of the worldly, backslidden teenager. The called to preach young man choosing to be a park ranger or lawyer. The called to serve God young lady, choosing to follow her dreams rather than God’s will.   DUH!!!  Let me share with you what I mean from the Bible.

I. Learning

So you think school is not that important.       DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

So you think your grades don’t matter.     DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

So you think college is dumb.         DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

So you think you don’t need a degree.     DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

You don’t think Sunday School is important.     DUH!! Are you really that foolish?

You don’t pay attention in church.            DUH!!!

You don’t listen to the sermon            DUH!!!

You laugh and goof off during preaching        DUH!!!

Pro 1:7 ” The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Pro 1:22  “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?”

Pro 12:15  “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.”

Pro 13:16  “Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.”

Pro 18:2  “A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.”

The teachers that have given their lives to teach you… and you don’t care. The parents that sacrifice to homeschool or send you here.  And you don’t even try. The preacher that has given his life to pastor this church, start these ministries, and you just want out. The SS teachers that study every week, teach every week, and try to help you spiritually and you just keep on living your life your way.  DUH!!!

II. Speech

So you think there is nothing wrong with cussing when you need to?    DUH!!!

So you think cuss words are ok when written or texted?        DUH!!!

So you think movies with vile, wicked language are good.        DUH!!!

So you think music with wicked, dirty words and ungodly musicians is good for you.      DUH !!!

So you think telling dirty jokes is a good testimony?        DUH!!!

So you think lying is ok if it keeps you out of trouble?    DUH!!

So you think you can talk bad about, criticize, make fun and laugh at people without hurting them.   DUH!!!

Pro 10:14  “Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.”

Pro 10:18  “He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.”

Pro 18:6  “A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.”

Pro 18:7  “A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.”

Pro 19:1  “Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.”

The God that saved you and forgave you and that called you and helps you, He is not pleased with you taking His name in vain. He is not pleased with you cussing, listening to cussing, telling bad jokes, lying, or talking about people. You want cursing and blessing to come out of the same mouth. That cannot happen. DUH!!!

III.     Righteousness

Some people think living right is not important.    DUH!!!

Some people think dressing right is not an issue.     DUH!!!

Some people think listening to good music is not fun.    DUH!!!

Some people don’t see the blessing of purity, righteousness, godliness, holiness.

Gal 3:1  “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”

Psa 14:1  “To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”

Pro 28:26  “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”

Ecc 2:14  “The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness:”

What I do doesn’t matter.   DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

My music is not bad.   CMON   DUH!!! Are you really that foolish?

I dont like being old fashioned.  DUH!!!

Im just a teenager, Im sowing my oats.     DUH!!!!

IV.     Character

Some people think how they act, their attitude, their spirit is not important. You think you are something, huh. Think you are just wonderful. DUH!!!  God Calls that Pride

Pro 14:3  “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.”

You get mad and you say things, throw things, yell and fight. DUH!!! That is called Anger

Ecc 7:9  “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”

You think sleeping late, being lazy, doing nothing, laying around is helpful. You need a Work Ethic

Pro 14:1  “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

Right now mom and dad pays for everything. You think it will always be that way. Eventually you’ll need your own Money

Pro 21:20  “There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.”

V.     Sin

Who cares if I don’t read, pray, or listen in church?    DUH   God

What does it matter if I want to do right or wrong. I like my sin. I want to be involved in this sin.
Pro 26:11  “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.”

Pro 14:9  “Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Gal 3:3 ” Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”

You know Christians are not supposed to be conformed to this world of sin. You know Christ set us free from sin and we don t have to be tied up in Sin. You know God loved you so much, He gave His son and will help you
You say, I’m under conviction. What should I do?  DUH!! Don’t be a fool. Get right with God right now and choose to do right. Don’t be foolish.
