Proverbs 14:30 “A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.”
Proverbs 6:34 ” For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
There is a battle in each of us. A battle between the flesh and the Spirit. The flesh is constantly at war with us trying to pull us into a carnal wicked state. We must fight and war to stay away from sin’s grasp and to overcome the flesh. With such a battle from the flesh, why would we want to engage in a war within our spirits. Teenage dating sends you into a battle with jealousy and envy. When teenagers date there is a jealousy and envy that comes with those relation- ships that teens do not need. There is a temptation to deceive and to rebel against authority. Then comes a worry and stress of getting caught or the pride of not. These are all sins of the Spirit that are exposed when teenagers date. A youth group that is full of dating relationships is usually full of envy and jealousy. Why not just decide to be friends and servants of the Lord? Why do we have to pursue relationships as teenagers? Are you jealous of someone in your youth group? Decide that you are not going to pursue that life. Instead, decide to focus on your own battle with your own flesh. You can go a lot further towards win- ning this battle if you are not preoccupied by battling the sins of the Spirit as well
