You Don’t Got This

John 15:5 ” I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
There is a popular phrase and sentiment going about these days that goes something like “I Got This!” While it may be a OK to exude unbridled confidence and some swagger when eating a four-scoop ice cream cone or playing a game of Go Fish with your little brother, the real world of life it is a completely different story. A smart phone is an amazing piece of technology but without its battery it is $600 door stop or table coaster. The most expensive car on the road today with all its horsepower and refined engineering is just a hunk of metal, rubber and leather without its fuel source to give it power. Without God we are like that drained cell phone and empty car. God created us to have all sorts of potential but without Him we will never reach the full potential for which God intended. Not to say you can’t go through life without Him and do things on your own. You can, but why would you want to? You probably could find many other uses for a dead smart phone but it will never be what it was intended to be. We need God. We need His power, His direction, His wisdom and His help; so as you go through life remember: You Don’t Got This! The smartest and most spiritual thing you can do at the beginning of each day is to ask God to give you wisdom, strength and blessings so that you can be all you can be for Him. Our greatest independence is found in our complete dependence on God.
