Dust In The Wind

The wisest men in the Bible hold out some heavy questions for God and man:
Job 7:17 “What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? And that thou shouldest set thine
heart upon him?”
Psalm 8:4 “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest
him?”
Psalm 144:3 “Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that
thou makest account of him!”
God lives by a different timeline than we do. He is eternal and always existent. Paul describes God as such in 1 Timothy 1:17 “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God.” God experiences time differently than we do. Psalm 90:4 “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.” Peter repeats this in 2 Peter3:8 “But, beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” It leaves us wondering the same thing as Job, and David: Why would an immortal God take time to care for us?
1. God cares for us because we are created for a purpose.
As a Christian, I think the first important fact to recognize is that we are created by God. God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.”. God is our creator! He has so much attention for us, knowing how many hair we have on our heads even, because he made us. Not only did God make us, but He made us for a purpose. Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Do not ever be convinced that no one cares for you, or that you have no purpose in this life. God has a will made specifically for you! God’s will can be proved Romans 12:2. God’s will can be understood Ephesians 5:17. God’s will can be done Mark 3:35. Why would an eternal God care for man? He cares for us, because he created us.
2. God cares for us because we are the center of his affection.
God loves you. Read that again. The world is filled with people seeking a connection and seeking affection. Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” There are a lot of things you can say about God. The greatest is that He loves us. God loved us so much he gave his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God was willing to humble himself, come to earth, and suffer and die for the sins of mankind. Although we made a mistake, God loved us so much he went out of his way to make a way for us around that mistake. God cares so much for man because He loves us.
3. God cares for us because of his compassion.
There is a pattern in the New Testament when you study the word “compassion.” Jesus Christ would see a need. People would be hungry, people would be hurting, or people would be in need. After seeing this need, the Bible says he was “moved with compassion.” Not only did God create us for a purpose. Not only does God love us and showed us that love with action. God sees our struggles and hurts and the Bible says he has “compassion” on us. God’s compassion is what moved Him to send His son to die: 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” God’s compassion is why He a part of Himself to indwell in every believer: Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” God’s compassion is why he takes notice of man.
