As Unique As a Snowflake

One of my favorite childhood memories was riding in the front seat of the car watching the snowflakes fall as we drove down the road at night. I loved the large snowflakes. It was beautiful and mesmerizing as I anticipated the possibility of a huge blizzard, building snowmen, and riding sleds.

A snowflake begins to form when an extremely cold water droplet freezes onto a pollen or dust particle in the sky. This creates an ice crystal. As the ice crystal falls to the ground, the vapor freezes onto the primary crystal, building new crystals – the six arms of the snowflake. The frozen water crystals bump into other falling crystals, breaking off pieces, and eventually becoming the unique snowflakes that we enjoy.

Sometimes, freezing temperatures also bring freezing rain, sleet, and hail. I think it is safe to say no one looks forward to freezing rain, sleet, or hail. We don’t say, “Look at the beautiful hail that has fallen!” Snowflakes, though, are beautiful, unique, and one of a kind.

Through all of our pressures, problems, and positions in life, our hearts can become cold-hearted & indifferent, or we can allow them to make us into something beautiful, exactly as God wants us to be.

Romans 8:28“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

God’s creation is perfect. He makes no mistakes. Just like the snowflakes that were each made unique, God has made each of us special and unique. None of us are the same. We may be similar in interests and talents, positions, and have similar pressures and problems, but God has made us to be different. He loves each of us. We can become exactly who God intends us to be!  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Psalm 139:14, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Just like there’s only one you, there’s only one Saviour. One perfect, unique, and special way to get to heaven. Christmas is set aside for Christians to celebrate the unique birth of our one-of-a-kind Saviour who loves you and came to earth just for you, to save you, and take you to heaven.

God sees each sparrow that falls

And shapes each snowflake to gently fall.

He made you, gave you your life and soul

Fall into His hands, let Him take control.

If He cares to design a snowflake

that only lasts a few seconds,

How He must care for you

His perfect artistic creation.

Like a snowflake, life is short

We must seek and find God’s will for our lives

Not mock, criticize or cause damage to others

but marvel at His handiwork in ourselves and in others.

God makes no mistakes

Each snowflake is unique and one-of-a-kind

You and I are not a mistake

We, too, are unique and one-of-a-kind

Jesus First – Put God first. He made you and deserves being first

Enjoy Family and Friends – As you become the unique person God wants you to be, enjoy life and those around you. Life is short. There is no time for bitterness.

Sing praises to Him – As you become who God wants you to be, praise Him for who He is, His plan, His protection and provision.

Use your talents for the Lord’s glory – He needs each of us.

Surrender to His will for your life – He has a perfect plan just for you. It is unique and one-of-a-kind. Become this beautiful person that God created you to be.
