All Out Of Tricks

Colossians 1:23 ” If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;”

Well I just gotta say the first couple of times the phrase “one weird trick” was used, it was interesting and peaked the curiosity. Then it just got way, way out of hand. After a few thousand times it seems that everything in life can be accomplished through one weird trick – which we all know isn’t true! Many have tried over the years to reduce a life of faithfulness and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ to “one weird trick”. They have attempted to simplify the Christian life to a simple set of rules, check boxes, or “Do’s” and “Don’ts”. My friend there is no easy, simple trick to the victorious Christian life. If it was easy to live for Christ and to walk with God everyone (who cared to) would do it! Living for Jesus is not difficult in the sense that it takes a high-level college degree or special secretive enlightenment. No, anyone and everyone no matter their IQ or education can live for God. Living for Jesus is difficult in that it requires faith, discipline, devotion, sacrifice, and obedience to God, His Word, and the leading of His Spirit. The pull of the World, the lusts of the flesh and the opposition of the Devil make it difficult to deny ourselves and to live for God. There is no “one weird trick” to the victorious Christian life so we can stop looking and just start living for God. There is no easy spiritual shortcut to a life of faithfulness
