Let’s Go Teen Soul Winning

Matt 28:19-20

We have a lot of  teen activities…

They are all very fun. I am for them. I think teens need a good balance of fun, fellowship, service and teaching. But I believe one of the most forgotten teen activities we can have is Teen Soul Winning. The job of the Youth Department is to prepare Teenagers to be ready for Serving Adults. What better way to do that than to train them to be Soul Winners!!

Here every Wednesday after school we take our teens out soul winning.

I had a soul winning program with a tween group I had when I was only 17…

I had a soul winning program with the teens when I was pastoring…

A Soul Winning Group does not have to be A Christian School…

These groups were mainly made up of teenagers who came to church on a bus route…

It can be done. It needs to be done. No one can reach teens like teens.

I. Teach Them How to Go Soul Winning

Most teens in our Youth Departments don’t do things because they don’t know how…

Take that excuse away…  Teach them.. Practice… Go through Plan of Salvation..

Step by Step, Show them how and why Soul Winning is important.

Lets Go Soul Winning by Jack Hyles. –

Go Through your Tract.  Help them Learn it. Memorize it. Know it.

II. Make Soul Winning A Big Deal

It is. It is the greatest thing we can do. It is a huge deal. Let the teens know they can have a part in a person going to Heaven. Promote your teen soul winning program.

Include Teen Soul Winning in your Fall and Spring Campaigns.

Tag Soul Winning onto a Fun Activity every once in awhile…  ILLUS-  Super Saturday!

III.    Set A Time To Go

Wednesday is our afternoon to go.  I have had teen soul winning on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday..

Find a time that works for your group and set that as your time and don’t change it.

Many of our teens also go out on Saturday on their Bus Routes.

IV. Get Your Materials Together

You will need   1.  Tracts 2.  Convert Cards 3. Spanish Tracts Enough for your whole group.

We usually start with 10 tracts each and then give more as needed.

Be sure to supply flyers, material for special days and things needed for promotions.

V. Pair the Teens Up

This sends the teens out 2 by 2 (the Bible way) but also gives them a chance to get to know each other.

Occasionally, have a time when you can go with the teens.

Usually I drive the van and drop them off on a street and then drive down that street while they knock the doors.

With smaller groups I have been able to get out with them… Larger groups I am unable to go with, because I am picking up and dropping off so much.

However, we will have special times when I will go soul winning with the teenagers.

VI. Have A Time of Prayer and Challenge Before

This is really an activity in itself… a prayer time. Make this a big deal. Pray for God’s power, Holy Spirit leading, Souls saved, etc.

Then excite everyone with a story or a charge about soul winning.

VII. Rejoice

When we pick everyone up, we rejoice and give thanks for the souls that were saved that day.

This gives God the glory and also helps us to remember to be thankful.

Tell of experiences in the day and questions and situations they may have faced.

VIII. FOOD

Sometimes we will go out to eat afterward, but that can get expensive, so we have asked some ladies to help cook for our teens. We reimburse their expense by charging the teens 3 dollars.

IX. Incorporate Teen Soul Winning Into A Teen Service or Program

Our Wednesday Night Schedule looks like this:

3:30-5:15- Teen Soul Winning

5:15-5:45- Meal

5:45-6:45 “Power Hour”  –  Teen Service

7:00-   Evening Service

X. Share Your Results

One of the most encouraging parts of soul winning is when we see results.

Having souls saved.   Getting converts to church.   Seeing converts baptized.    Seeing them in Sunday School.

XI. Converts and Follow Up

I currently give convert cards to  the ministry leader they would be related to.

Children… Bus Ministry

Adults… Adult SS Teachers

Teens… Teen Van Route Workers

CLOSING:

This may not be as exciting as laser tag, but Soul Winning not only helps the Youth Department… it helps the Youth Department change the world.  Now that sounds fun!
